Adaptations

Mostanában nagy divat újraforgatni régi filmeket, vagy újra feldolgozni a régi témákat, én pedig hobbiból rendre megnézem a korábbi verziókat is. Ma néztem meg a The Omega Mant és az I Am Legendet, mindkettő az I Am Legend című Richard Matheson-regény feldolgozása (az 1964-es verzió, a The Last Man on Earth még csak most csorog lefelé), és persze nem lennék hű önmagamhoz, ha a regényt nem venném elő.

Namost mind Charlton Heston, mind Will Smith alakításában egy nagyon erős, férfias karaktert kapunk, de mindkettőnél feltűnt az a nagyfokú rendezettség: sehol egy otthagyott mosatlan lábas, sehol egy eldobott ruhadarab. Ugyanakkor olvasom a könyvet, abban ez áll a második oldalon:

"Later he forced himself into the kitchen to grind up the five-day accumulation of garbage in the sink. He knew he should burn up the paper plates and utensils too, and dust the furniture and wash out the sinks and the bathtub and toilet, and change the sheets and pillowcase on his bed; but he didn’t feel like it.
For he was a man and he was alone and these things had no importance to him."

A real man, yeah!
